the investigation

A year long investigation into HAAU was paused due to victim's unwillingness to step forward

For over a year, HAAU was under investigation by the Brooksville, Florida Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Financial Crimes Unit. While the lead investigator believed that the Fonds were running a criminal enterprise, his department could not secure warrants simply because victims of the Fond’s scheme refused to come forward. While it was easy to show numerous instances of fraud and the inner and outer workings of the Fond’s operation, without victims willing to come forward, it could not be proven in a court of law.

Bullied into silence, people did not want their names or their businesses negatively affected. They all saw how HAAU bullied others and they simply did not want to deal with any of the slander, libelous accusations and hateful pages put up to defame and humiliate and attempts to destroy a detractor’s business – ALL things the Fonds and their cohorts are known for. Who could blame them?

Additionally, many people who donated to the Fonds and complained after learning of their nefarious operation were refunded their money. When a donor is refunded, they can not claim they were “defrauded” which means they are no longer a “victim”.

This investigation would not have been left in “active” status for so long if there wasn’t signficant and compelling reasons, however, despite what the Fonds wrongly tell people – that “The investigation found nothing” and “It was closed”, it was left in “inactive” status pending witnesses coming forward. Quite different than the spin Rosa Fond and her cohorts have put on things.

What's next for Humans and Animals United and the Fonds?

As evidence continues to mount and new victims step forward, we have every reason to believe a second investigation is forthcoming. Additionally, multiple agencies – both on a State and Federal level, have been notified.
