Bonnie's Story

Bonnie’s story has a lot of twists and turns. First “rescued” in late November, 2023 – she was placed with a family that for reasons unknown, did not work out. This family had Bonnie for approximately one month before she was placed with a woman we refer to as “Amy”.

On January 5th, 2024, Amy was told by the rescue that Bonnie had just left the vet after being pulled from the Miami Dade Animal Shelter. Amy had no idea at the time that Bonnie was pulled from this shelter and placed with a family previously for a month prior to her taking Bonnie in. She suspected something bad may have happened as Bonnie was extremely timid of humans and flinched easily  – pancaking on the floor to make herself as small as possible. This behavior does not always indicate prior abuse, however, the rescue’s secrecy regarding the family that had Bonnie for the first 30 days led Amy to suspect Bonnie may not have been treated very well.

Like the other six dogs that Amy took in for Humans and Animals United, Bonnie generated significant donations for this rescue – over $6K in pledges alone and additional funds in direct donations. Despite the money raised for Bonnie, she was dropped off with Amy with just a bottle of medicated shampoo and absolutey nothing else.

In fact, in the 19 months Amy had Bonnie, she was never directed by this rescue to have any follow up vet care for Bonnie. Not a single vet visit. No flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, no dog food and no concern from this rescue.

On March 2, 2025, Humans and Animals United posted a happy video with upbeat music portraying Bonnie as having been adopted when in reality, Bonnie was with Amy who had refused to adopt Bonnie – overwhelmed with dogs and believing that the rescue was working on finding her a permanent home elsewhere.

In the video that HAAU posted announcing Bonnie’s “Fake” adoption, the rescue used pictures of the initial family that had Bonnie for the first 30 days. This is fundamentally deceptive on many levels. The sweet video of Bonnie with what was said to be her forever family, was simply a lie. These people did not have Bonnie nor was Bonnie adopted. It was intended to appease donors and people following Bonnie’s “Journey”.

In late August of 2025, five months after HAAU posted the video of Bonnie claiming she was adopted, she was confiscated from Amy by animal control along with another of HAAU’s dogs – Oliver, after reports of a dog fight (one of many that occurred in this woman’s home) that resulted in the death of three dogs. Despite this, HAAU STILL continued to press Amy to take in additional dogs for them while content to have the public believe Bonnie was in a loving home with the people in the video!

After Bonnie’s confiscation by animal control, there hasn’t been a single update on her. No one knows what became of her. Is she still alive? Where did she end up? It’s anyone’s guess at this point but one thing is for sure – what Humans and Animals United put out to the world about Bonnie being adopted, using pictures of people that only had her for the first 30 days, was enough to stop people from asking questions and demanding updates. Their deception worked and the public was none the wiser.

Humans and Animals United’s “Updates” are rarely the dog’s final destination and intended to give the appearance of a job well done by this rescue while appeasing everyone who asked for status updates.

This rescue is seemingly allergic to transparency – something that is expected by every animal rescue. They have no regard for it and are very adept at manipulating the truth and pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes. Rosa Fond is gifted in providing “alternative facts” and along with her felon husband Anthony, the two routinely spin accounts of their version of reality that bares no resemblence to the actual truth – all while enriching themselves by leveraging rescue dogs for their own personal financial gain.

As mentioned, Bonnie was pulled by HAAU from Miami Dade Animal Services. This shelter previously banned Rosa Fond from pulling dogs when news about the dog Luna made its way to their director. Sadly, Rosa was able to fast talk her way to getting her pulling rights back after a change in management. You can read about Luna here.

To date, HAAU has scrubbed their pages of all mention of Bonnie except for a couple of posts they seemingly forgot about. No one knows where Bonnie is or if she is even alive. At this point, any updates on Bonnie or proof of life would have to have a time and date stamp attached as they have simply told too many lies to be believed at this point.

If you are as outraged by this blatant disregard for the welfare of the dogs that so many caring people thought their donations would be going towards in order to provide a better life for Bonnie, please let the shelter know you implore them to permanently ban Humans and Animals United from pulling dogs.

We truly hope Bonnie is alive and well, however, based on this rescues pattern of deceiving the public, it would be difficult at best to believe anything they may say about Bonnie at this point.
