The Business

Humans and Animals United have perfected a system that allows them to solicit five figure donations for every dog they “rescue” across an expansive network of fake networking pages and their own misleading groups across social media. Using extremely emotionally manipulative tactics, they over exaggerate a dog’s true condition and manufacture a false sense of urgency with untrue claims of a pending euthanization. In addition to Facebook, they post their highly emotional pleas for help on Instagram, TikTok, X, Linked in and even Reddit. All of these posts are shared by thousands of people across social media who are unaware of the truth and all net this rescue five figures for each and every dog.

With most dogs requiring minimal medical care and many offers of sponsorship for the dog’s care, most funds generated are in signficant excess of what is truly needed. The surplus does not go towards other dogs nor is it refunded back to the donors. Many believe this surplus gets deposited into the owner’s shell businesses where it is laundered and deposited into the Fond Family savings account. READ ABOUT THE FONDS HERE. There are numerous reports of dogs meeting tragic fates and a very fast and loose approach to vetting potential adopters. The following is an overview of how Humans and Animals United truly operate. To the casual observer, things may look legitimate on their face, however, look closer and you will see many red flags.

It begins with the initial post with exaggerated claims and pleas for help ($$$)

Here is a dog HAAU recently “rescued” from the Rockdale County Animal Shelter in Georgia, their shelter of choice and one that turns a blind eye to all of this, enabling this rescue to continue their grift. Marty is representative of each and every dog Humans and Animals United “rescues” and generated in upwards of $12K in pledges. In addition to the pledges, many people make direct donations and offer full sponsorships. Marty needed little in vetting besides being heartworm positive – a common condition that is relatively inexpensive to treat.

This is the type of emotionally manipulative posts this rescue is know for creating in order to deceive their followers and donors into giving them $$$. The false sense of urgency works like a charm, instilling a sense of desperation and helplessness in people who want to see the dog’s life spared – so they open their wallets and the donations and pledges come pouring in.

The rescue’s cohorts and fake “networking” pages are full of sad pleas for people to save the dog and it only adds to the very false narrative this rescue spins so easily. Everyone of the below comments are made by this rescue, their fake networking pages and head pledge pusher Barbara Queenbee.

Throw in a video with sad music and the rescue is on their way to collecting over $10K across their vast web of pages, many of them fake and intended to further deceive the public.

"He crawled up to someone's porch in the middle of the night for safety and what he found was his end. They called ACO and in a heartbreaking scene he begged for his life. Has been at the shelter for months, blasted over and over. He is being killed because he is heartworm positive".

Sure sounds sad, doesn’t it? Might even compell you to pledge or donate, wouldn’t it? There are literally thousands of comments just like this one across all of HAAU’s pages:

The TRUTH is that what Rosa Fond wrote in this post about Marty, what she writes in almost ALL of her posts about her target dogs is all a pack of lies and intended to tug at the heartstrings of as many people as possible so her bank account sees another nice pay day.

Marty was never in danger of being euthanized. Many concerned people contacted the shelter and asked. They were all told the truth – that Marty was not their longest resident, that he had not been there for “Months” as Rosa claims, that he was not currently at risk for euthanasia and they did not have any knowledge of his backstory that Rosa Fond elaborated so elequently on. In fact, the shelter never euthanizes a dog simply because they are heartworm positive – they don’t even test for this unless the rescue requests it.

The result was hundreds of foster and adoption offers as well as offers to transport and to sponsor Marty’s medical. What they collected in pledges and received in direct donations was PURE PROFIT.

Next, the announcement that a foster has been found is made and people are asked to honor their pledges.

Humans and Animals United typically already has an adopter available when they start posting about their target dog. In most cases, they truly do not need a foster or adopter – they simply want your money. With most dogs receiving hundreds of offers to foster/adopt, they leverage these offers for future dogs while focusing on generating as many pledges/donations as possible.

Another thing that people are unaware of is they do straight adoptions most of the time, falsely claiming a “foster is found”. The reason for this is that pledges and donations would stop coming in if people believed the dog was adopted right out of the gate – so they give people the false impression that the dog will be going to a foster while they claim to be searching for an adopter. This is just another highly deceptive practice that HAAU uses to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes and it has been very successful for them.

Shortly after, an adoption announcement will be made and it's always the same - the target dog is "adopted by the foster" when in most cases, there never was a foster to begin with and the dog was adopted out immediately.

There will likely be a single “update” about Marty when he arrives at his adopter’s home, often times thousands of miles away, typically with another moving video with tear evoking music . . .  But it’s not a REAL update. It is NOT always the dog’s final destination – but the rescue wants you to think it is so they can appease everyone’s concerns and requests for updates.

If Marty is like the other dogs, he will be bounced around a bit until he finally lands somewhere if he’s lucky and isn’t euthanized or abused first.

Humans and Animals United works very hard to keep this all on the down low and will block anyone who asks questions that they deem too probing. As is the case with many of HAAU’s dogs, no one will know about this and what truly became of Marty.
