Franklin's Story
Franklin was a Rottweiler that Humans and Animals United pulled from Broward County Animal Services in July of 2022. What Franklin endured by the person this rescue hand picked to adopt Franklin, despite the many other offers from people wanting to help him, is just sickening.
As they have done with many dogs in the past, HAAU exercised very little care when placing Franklin with an adopter that ended up abusing him. At one point, he claimed that Franklin bit him and dumped him at a veterinary’s office. Once again, the trainer who had come running to get Ben, another dog that was failed miserably by this rescue (read more) went to pick up Franklin and was horrified with what he saw. Franklin, who he had worked with just 30 days prior, had deep puncture wounds all around his neck due to obvious abuse.
There is simply no way to inflict this kind of harm upon a dog accidentally. This is very indicative of someone with rage issues and we can’t help but think that if in fact Franklin did bite this man, it had to have been provoked and done out of fear.
This coincided with Jack having just recently picked up Ben, having found him in horrific condition. When Barbara Ranberg Smith aka “Queenbee”came to pick up Franklin, she also too Ben and informed Jack that they were both “going up north”. Two terribly abused dogs that were placed with monsters, hand picked by Humans and Animals United – went “out of state” which many believe is code for “euthanized”.
We do not believe that Franklin is alive. This rescue has scrubbed all traces of Franklin across social media and there has not been a single update about him. With a “reported” bite history, this could easily have been a justification for them to euthanize Franklin – despite the fact that the rescue exercised zero caution when placing him with his abusive adopter. Again, we would love to know that he is alive and well but would need solid proof at this point. This rescue is very good at spinning false narratives so it’s entirely plausible that they could give a false account of what happened to Franklin in an effort to cover their tracks, just as they have regarding many other dogs on many other ocassions.
One thing’s for certain – this rescue does not give truthful accounts of where their dogs all end up nor do they provide REAL updates on many of them as evident by both Ben and Franklin’s stories. Is it any wonder that many people have expressed deep concern over where this rescue’s dogs end up?
While Rosa Fond and her cohorts were pushing pledges for Franklin, other people who saw their posts, posts that were shared by many people, attempted to adopt him – but not for the reason Rosa Fond claims. According to Rosa, the only reason anyone would want to adopt Franklin was to “adopt this dog from underneath us” so they could attempt to “steal” all the pledges she worked so hard for. How dare anyone want to help a dog and ruin her payday?
Most if not ALL legitimate rescues would be thankful for anyone who went to the shelter to adopt a dog, even one they had previously posted about. In fact, they would be happy to help that person any way they could for the sake of the dog.
Not Rosa Fond. You don’t get in the way of Rosa and a dog she is “working on” – one that has massive pledges. All that money people pledged down the drain because someone had the audacity to want to adopt a dog and give him/her a good home. This is something Rosa Fond is known for. Many times she has promoted a dog still in the shelter, raised signficant pledges and someone else adopted the dog before she could put a hold on him/her. According to her, it’s always someone who was just out for the money the dog generated or to stick it to her. That rationale is says a lot about how Rosa Fond thinks. Truth is, it is simply impossible for anyone to intercept Rosa’s pledges. In the past when she has accused others of doing this by “adopting a dog from underneath her”, she deleted all posts and in doing so, deleted all pledges. This is just a bogus accusation that a very angry Rosa Fond accuses others of when they threaten to ruin her payday.
Franklin deserved to be more than a money making pawn. He deserved to be placed in a solid home with decent people and he was deprived of this all for the love of money. Instead, he went to an animal abuser who dumped him with no regard for his life.
There are many questions here that may never have answers the least of which is what happened to Franklin? Why no updates after he went “out of state”? Why didn’t they blast his adopter who did terrible things to Franklin the way they blast those that speak up against their illicit rescue? The answer is clear. They do not want the public to know how often they fail their dogs. It’s a very bad reflection on theme and threatens their money making operation.
Humans and Animals United is more concerned with the money they make off of the backs of these innocent dogs then their welfare. When greed gets in the way of doing what’s right for the dogs, it’s the dogs who pay the ultimate price.
Dear Franklin, we truly hope you are alive and well. We welcome proof that you in fact, were sent somewhere safe and got to experience real love.
